Karl Borromäus Murr was educated in History, Philosophy and Ethnology at the universities of Munich, Oxford (St Edmund Hall), Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and Cambridge/USA (Harvard University). In 2005 he received his PhD in History from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. The same year he was appointed curator and in 2009 director of the new State Textile and Industry Museum Augsburg (tim). Since 2013 chairman of the jury, since 2015 board member of the European Museum Academy. Since 2005 he has been teaching courses in history, ethnology and museum studies at the University of Augsburg and Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and at the Libera università di lingue e comunicazione IULM Milan. He has published widely on history and museum studies.
